HILLCREST
BAPTIST SANCTUARY CHOIR
The Sanctuary choir is the center piece of the music ministry at
Hillcrest. They are the worship leaders of our Worship Services. They lead
in the worship service every Sunday morning at the 11:00 a.m. service, so
their place in leadership is very important. To be part of this choir is to
part of the weekly worship of Hillcrest Baptist Church. The choir helps in
leading the thanksgiving and praise we give every week to our Lord and
Creator, Jesus Christ. The choir also presents special programs throughout
the year. Come join us! We would love to have you on our team.
Membership
To be a member of the Sanctuary Choir we ask that you be faithful,
available, and teachable. You do not need to be an official member of the
church to join the choir, although it is our hope that after working with us
for a time you will become a member, and if you do not know the Lord as your
personal Savior, this will become a priority to us that you become a child
of God. Young people may be considered for the choir if they are at least in
the ninth grade and are also involved in the youth ministry. If you have
little or no training in music, having a teachable spirit will enable you to
learn from those around you as we praise the Lord together.
Our orchestra and Instrumentalists are the backbone of the music ministry at
Hillcrest. Its purpose is to provide instrumental music in our worship Services,
to set a mood for worship, and to accompany our choir, ensembles, and soloists
as needed. They play in the worship service every service of the year, so their
part in worship leadership is very important. To be part of the orchestra is to
be part of the weekly worship of Hillcrest Baptist Church. We love all kinds of
music so we need all kinds of instrumentalists.
We are a church of many musical tastes and many musical styles, from a
majestic hymn to a gospel song, we may sing a contemporary song one week then an
old southern gospel tune the next. God made us all different with different
likes and dislikes. I always say "if you didn't hear something that you like
this Sunday then come back next Sunday and we'll do something completely
different!
Susan Vance is our accomplished accompanist and the organizer of all
thing musical at Hillcrest. For years Pastor Paul and Susan lead the
worship, the choir and did the preaching and teaching as well. I am honored
to labor with them for the cause of Christ.
