  Pastor Paul Vance

Pastor Paul Vance has been in the full time ministry for 20 years and has pastored a church in Arkansas, served as a Interstate Missionary Church Planter, and now serves as our Senior Pastor. He and his wife, Susan, have been at Hillcrest Baptist Church since its inception and have seen the church grow from 3 members to now over 800. The joy of their lives is serving the Lord Jesus Christ in ministry together. They are truly dedicated and love the Lord, His church, their children, their families, and each other.

Bro. Paul received both his Bachelor's and Master's Degree of Theology from Landmark Baptist Institute and Seminary in Mauldin, South Carolina. His hobbies are music, sports, and gardening. He is a gifted musician and enjoys singing and loves playing the guitar, banjo, bass, and drums. Both he and Susan enjoy serving the Lord together. He has a heart for missions and serves on the Georgia State Missions Committee and served as the moderator of the Georgia State Association in 1998-99. He has served on the National Standing Missionary Committee since 1998 and is currently serving as the chairman.

Susan is an accomplished pianist and is a graduate from both Kennesaw State University and Piedmont College with her Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She teaches first grade at Bascomb Elementary School in Woodstock. Susan is very involved in the Ladies Auxiliary both at Hillcrest and on the national American Baptist Association level. She served as President of the National Women's Auxiliary in 2001-2002.

Paul and Susan Vance were married in 1979. The Lord has blessed them with two wonderful children, Joshua Paul and Laurie Christine. Joshua is a recent graduate from the University of West Georgia and is employed in the Finance Department at Georgia Tech. Josh serves playing drums in the music ministry. Laurie is a freshman in college at Georgia Highlands and serves at Hillcrest in the mulit-media and children's ministries.

  Brother Mike Maxwell
   Associate Pastor

Mike and Angela were married May 16, 1987 in Orlando, Florida and were active members of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church before relocating to Atlanta in July 1993. They joined Hillcrest in September 1993 when it was still a mission with approximately 50 members. They have two children, Emily and Justin.

Bro. Mike surrendered to the ministry in July 1994. He has served as youth pastor since that time and is active in every facet of our church. In October 2003, Bro. Mike accepted the duties of full-time Associate/Youth Pastor after 22 years of service in Industrial Sales with Hughes Supply. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Theology in May 2000 and a Master's degree in Theology in May 2005 from Landmark Missionary Baptist Institute. In addition to working with our teens and children, he teaches adult Sunday School and leads our short-term mission trips. Mike also enjoys many activities including golf and scuba diving.

Angela serves as a co-director of the Children’s Choir, is a member of the Adult Choir, and past President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also serves as Assistant Treasurer, chairs the budget/finance committee, and teaches a teen Sunday School class. Angela has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the University of Central Florida.

Mike and Angela have had many influences throughout their ministry together but none greater than their church family who has encouraged and supported them.

  Brother Tim Albritton
   Worship Pastor

We are excited and happy to have Bro. Tim, his wife Kayla, and daughter Chandra become part of our Hillcrest family.  Bro. Tim began on staff at Hillcrest serving as Minister of Music on January 1, 2009.  They moved here from Bowie, Maryland, where Bro. Tim directed the music ministry of Grace Baptist Church in Bowie, Maryland, for 27 years.  He is an accomplished musician, writer and arranger of music, skits, and dramas.  He has been involved in leading music for the American Baptist Association for several years.  He also has a Hillcrest connection—his aunt and uncle were Jesse and Ed Morris who were members of Hillcrest for many years.  All of his family are musically talented.  Kayla plays piano and sings in the choir, and Chandra is a talented singer and actress.

  Brother Brandon Nolan
   Youth Pastor

I was born in Somerset Kentucky which is where all my family lives.  I graduated high school at PBL High in Paxton, IL in 1999.  I then moved back to Kentucky where I came to know the Lord in April of 2002.  I then moved to Plant City, Florida, and joined Lone Oak Baptist Church.  I started to learn more and more about God and soon loved to be at church at every possible chance.  I worked at the YMCA and earned my personal training certification and worked with kid’s camp and taught swim lessons.  My first Christian service was teaching the High School Sunday school class, and I then moved on to teach the SWAT youth group at Lone Oak.  I attended seminary at Emmaus Baptist College in Brandon, Florida, for two years and then transferred to the University of South Florida where I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology.  I met Sarah Lewis at Hillsborough Community College in Plant City.  Sarah has been in church her whole life and was saved at age six.  Sarah is also a USF alumni where she received her bachelor’s in Elementary Education.  She has taught elementary school for four years.  Sarah also sells Premier Jewelry which is a Christian jewelry company.  Sarah and I got married on June 14th, 2008.  Sarah is due with our first child, little Chloe, on April 20th.  We are very excited about our new venture as parents.  In November of 2008 I came to Hillcrest Baptist Church in view of a call for the youth pastor position.  I knew a little bit about Hillcrest from a mission trip that I went on that the church hosted.  I knew of the character of the church and the spirit of her people.  I knew that Hillcrest was an amazing church and quickly became excited about the possibilities that God could have for us in Acworth, Georgia.  The church offered us to come and we prayed and accepted the challenge that God had in store for us.  In the summer of 2009 we moved to Acworth and started working immediately with the youth.  We are truly blessed and totally excited about the future for our youth here at Hillcrest.  We know that God has big plans and it will be amazing to see how He will use us!
